The Courtenay/Comox Skateboard Park is located in the City of Courtenay. This park is a joint venture between the neighbouring municipalities. The park is the second park to be built in the region. Space2place guided the site selection process.

Problem Statement

To create a skateboard park that will be a destination park for skaters across the province and is suited to skaters of all abilities.

Design Solution

The park is divided into three distinct zones. These include a street area, a bowl area and a “fl ow bowl”. The design meets the abilities of all skaters and provides some challenging elements for more advanced skaters. Site elements for non park users are provided to provide “hangout” locations to watchthe skaters, drinking fountains, and pathways.
