Site: The existing site had
a natural
character to the north and opened up onto an existing seawall
overlooking Burrard Inlet to the south. The existing dwelling was
demolished to make way for this contemporary house with Mediterranean
influences.
Problem Statement:
To create usable outdoor spaces adjacent to the dwellings that relate
to the character of the site. These spaces must be accessible and flow
into each other.
Design Solution: Three
distinct zones were created on the property. These differ in character,
with the northern zone being more natural, the zone around the dwelling
taking on a contemporary Mediterranean feel and the zone facing the
waterfront has a seaside character with open views to Vancouver across
the water. |
