The Kelowna Waterfront Park is located in the heart of Downtown Kelowna across from City Hall and on Okanagan Lake. It is situated between the new arts corridor and the historic downtown retail district.

Problem Statement

The City of Kelowna held a design competition for a civic space to honour the city’s centennial. The intent is to develop a place that establishes a strong connection to the Waterfront and strengthens connections in the city.

Design Solution

Space2place in collaboration with Douglas Cardinal Architects won the design competition, beating out the 2 other shortlisted teams. The design embraces the existing commercial core and the waterfront. The intent is to build upon the existing places that work and extend them into the new park space. The design plays with the contrast between structured and organic forms and provides a striking bold vision for the future of Kelowna.
